Ex-WWE star Maven was very impressed by how AEW's kingpin handles talent.

Former WWE man Maven was impressed by the "great vibes" and general atmosphere backstage at AEW when he snuck behind the curtain for a YouTube video back in May. The original Tough Enough winning wrestler turned popular content creator got backstage for an episode of Dynamite, but was warmly greeted by everyone from Billy Gunn and Thunder Rosa, to Daniel Garcia and Dustin Rhodes.

Later, Maven even managed to swing a quick meeting with the boss himself: Tony Khan.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Maven said that Khan "seemed like the best boss to work for", and that AEW "seemed like a good place to work". He's aware that Tony "gets a lot of critics online", but the ex-WWE star was in a privileged position. He was waiting patiently for the show to end so he could grab a word with Khan, so Maven sat and watched how TK handled the final 30 minutes or so of live production.

He was left rather impressed by how Tony "got up from producing chair, took his headphones off, made sure everyone was healthy and happy with the match that they just had" after every wrestler came back through the curtain. "You can tell when someone cares as opposed to when someone’s going through the motions. He cares", Maven added.

Before leaving, the retired worker couldn't resist telling Khan: "You have changed my perception on what I thought you were". He was amazed upon realising that everyone he spoke to on the AEW roster "seemed to be happy to be there and seemed happy with the product that they were putting out".

Tony's management style struck Maven most of all.
