Mick Foley Praises Current State Of The WWE Diva's Division

"It's a good time to be a fan of ‪#‎WomensWrestling‬ ."

In the wake of a Royal Rumble that offered some surprises - not least in the fact that it broke the unwanted streak of poor events of the past few years - Mick Foley has taken to social media to praise one aspect of the show above all else. Having made the bold prediction pre-event that the Becky Lynch/Charlotte would be one of the greatest matches in Women's Wrestling history, Foley lavished praise on the match and what it meant to the current state of the Diva division. He reserved special praise for Sasha Banks, whose return was one of the high-points of a very solid undercard:
"With the return of the Sasha Banks at the €#€ŽRoyalRumble€, could the Diva's Revolution finally be set to take off? I think so - but maybe we shouldn't be so quick to attach a label to it this time. The talent roster has never been deeper - Becky has been awesome, Natalya is healthy, Charlotte makes for a formidable champion - and the stories are finally getting personal. It's a good time to be a fan of €#€ŽWomensWrestling€ - and I'm looking forward to a landmark match at €#€ŽWrestlemania€."
As the Hardcore Legend so astutely put it, it could easily be seen as a benefit to Sasha that she was forced to take time away from TV, as it allowed her to be missed. Which she clearly was judging by the reaction to her appearance. So what next to the division? After a period of stagnation the Divas Revolution could be back in full swing and it seems inevitable that the next steps will see a booking of the title match that's been on fans' wish-lists since the Legit Boss and Charlotte signed with WWE. All that remains is confirmation of whether it will happen at Fastlane or WrestleMania. Foley continued his praise, singling Becky Lynch out for her part in the build to the match:
"...it seems to be almost unanimous that tonight's match and subsequent post match action has pointed #WomensWrestling in WWE in the right direction. Although no one was happier than me to see the #LegitBossreturn, so much of the credit should go to Becky Lynch - Who has been just sensational the past several weeks, and has made her storyline personal and meaningful. She was able to make people genuinely care about her character, which is difficult. She did it while losing matches, which is even more difficult. And when she had the chance to cut a promo, she connected with the audience in a very real, genuine and emotional way."
Foley has also promised a celebration of the career of AJ Styles in the coming days.
