Having debuted for the promotion back at All Out 2019, Mike Santana's time with AEW has come to an end.

Per Fightful Select, Santana and AEW formally parted ways last week, with the former LAX man now also removed from the official AEW roster page.

While he's remained active on the independent scene - currently reigning as the House of Glory World Champion and most recently active this past weekend in singles matches against Penta El Zero Miedo and Homicide - Santana has not competed for AEW since October.

After over a year on the shelf due to a torn ACL, Santana returned to AEW last August, immediately generating plenty of buzz and being dropped straight into All In's Stadium Stampede match. That was followed by a brief, sadly underwhelming feud against his long-time tag team partner Ortiz; a feud that largely played out on Rampage and culminated in one singles contest won by Santana.

Having teamed together since 2012, the pairing of Santana and Ortiz butted heads across the past couple of years, with reports that Santana felt more should be done with the tandem, while Ortiz was believed to simply be happy to be in the position he was in. Dating back to 2022, Konnan - a friend of both men who previously managed them in TNA - explained how Santana and Ortiz were "not on good terms", and there were also stories of Santana and Eddie Kingston having a heated backstage altercation over this matter.

Either way, Mike Santana is now a free agent, and one has to imagine the hugely talented 33-year-old won't have any shortage of interest in him.
