Miro Says Impact Wrestling Contacted Him Before Joining AEW

How close did the former Rusev come to joining Impact?

Impact Wrestling reached out to Miro shortly after his WWE release back in April, says the man himself.

The AEW newcomer made these claims during a recent Twitch stream, stating that he "just didn't want to go to Impact" because he "just needed some time," added that "they were very kind."

This would appear to corroborate a previous report from Wrestling News revealing that Impact had made acquiring the former Rusev a "top priority" when he was let go from WWE, offering him a guaranteed six-figure downside. Impact teased his signing prior to July's Slammiversary pay-per-view, showing a Bulgarian flag at the end of a vignette hinting at other ex-WWE employees like EC3, The Good Brothers, Drake Maverick, and more, many of whom ended up signing with the company.

Miro debuted for AEW on last week's Dynamite, introducing himself as Kip Sabian's 'Best Man' for his upcoming wedding to Penelope Ford. How did that storyline come about? "They needed a best man, and who has more experience in weddings than this freaking guy?", said Miro. "I've been married four times: two in real life, two in the fake life."

Though Miro's debut was met with a divisive response, the YouTube upload has already hit 1.7 million viewers in less than five days.
