MJF Turns On Cody At AEW Full Gear

Cody's prodigy puts 'The American Nightmare' down after AEW World Title match.

MJF Cody Turn

All Elite Wrestling pulled the trigger on the long-expected MJF heel turn at Full Gear tonight.

The set piece went down shortly after MJF had thrown the towel in on his mentor and "best friend's" behalf as Cody wrestled Chris Jericho for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, with 'The American Nightmare' trapped in a particularly torturous Lion Tamer.

MJF looked distraught afterwards, dropping to his knees in a crying, apologetic mess. Cody, meanwhile, was struggling to contain his inner rage, but was able to do just that, helping his protégé to his feet. That's when MJF pulled the turn. He booted Cody between the legs as the former Stardust came back around, prompting the loudest and most sustained heat of the evening as he screamed over the fallen body, then slowly made his way to the back.

One fan threw an open bottle of water at MJF as he neared the stage, dousing him. Planted or not, it was a great, great visual.

The turn probably came a month or two before many were expecting, but the monstrous crowd reaction is what really matters. MJF's promo on next week's Dynamite is going to be fire, too.
