More AEW Releases Expected This Month (AEW News)

Brace yourselves for further AEW talent releases throughout March 2025.

Wrestlers like Ricky Starks (now Ricky Saints on WWE's NXT brand), Miro, Malakai Black and Leyla Hirsch have left AEW in recent weeks. Hirsch and Black's contract's with the company expired, but Miro and Starks had earlier requested their own releases from Tony Khan's group. Eventually, the boss granted their wishes, and it didn't take long for Ricky to show up on WWE's side.

Now, Bryan Alvarez has claimed via Wrestling Observer Live that "there might be some [more] departures coming up in March". In other words, fans should brace themselves for at least a few more AEW releases over the next four weeks or so. Alvarez didn't drop any hints or seem to have any definitive knowledge on exactly who might be cut loose, but he did also add: "I think the fact of the matter is they've got way too many people under contract".

Then, he said: "I think I can comfortably say [Hirsch] will not be the last in the next 30 days".

As aforementioned, a number of workers called time on their All Elite careers during the first few months of 2025.

Ricky Starks was arguably the most high profile due to his prolonged (and pretty mysterious) disappearance from AEW programming in early-2024. At one point, Starks himself even questioned what was going on with Khan, and remarked that he only wanted to wrestle/get on with his career.

He's since made a splash on NXT, and some fans believe it's only a matter of time before Miro returns to the E as Rusev or Black regains his old Aleister forename for another tilt under Triple H. WWE has changed a lot since both men were in the company previously. Vince McMahon no longer rules the organisation with an iron fist.

They might be pleasantly surprised if they give the place another bash.

Alvarez was crystal clear about what's coming next in March. More wrestlers are expected to leave AEW behind and forge a new path elsewhere. Whether coming departures jump to WWE, find success in New Japan, hit up TNA before reaching Raw/SmackDown/NXT or just chill on the independent scene for a while remains to be seen.
