The NWA's falling out with Nick Aldis might've had something to do with Mickie James.

More details have emerged about Nick Aldis' NWA suspension and the reasons why he fell out with the company in the first place.

Fightful Select reports that Aldis hasn't been happy with NWA top brass for a while, and that a "huge reason" for this breakdown in communication was perceived disrespect towards his wife Mickie James following the Empowerrr event on 28 August 2021.

That all-female show was a first for the promotion, but they haven't produced a follow up as of yet. Now, it seems comments made by owner Billy Corgan about the necessity of a sequel (Corgan questioned whether or not the women's free agent market made it viable) played a part in Nick's frustrations with him and the NWA.

There were also concerns on Aldis' side about disrespect shown towards Mickie in the lead-up to the first Empowerrr show, but neither side really spoke about it publicly and just tried to get on with things. They've since come to a head, and Nick is set to depart the promotion after a fruitful five-year run.

Fightful also noted that this isn't an elaborate work, but a situation that's been simmering since last year.
