More Former Wrestlers Join Lawsuit Against WWE
Over 50 names are now grappling their former employer.
Recently Ashley Massaro, Perry Saturn and the family of Balls Mahoney (Jon Rechner) joined over 50 other wrestlers seeking compensation for neurological damages against WWE. Now a few more names have signed on to battle their former employer in a courtroom.
Today we found out that former ECW TV Champion Flash Funk, (who wrestled for WWE in the 90s) has joined on for the lawsuit, as have Spirit Squad member Johnny Jeter, Chad Wicks (from The Dicks tag team) and Sylvano Sousa, who was largely a jobber in the WWF in the '80s.
This is interesting news, not only because of the severity of their claims, but it's also perhaps why we did not see Johnny return for an appearance with his old Spirit Squad teammates on SmackDown.
The wrestlers are claiming that WWE failed to protect them from brain trauma. However, two lawsuits have already been recently dismissed in court, as the families of Nelson Frazier (Visera) and Matt Osborne (Doink, Big Josh) were unable to prove their deaths were linked to CTE.
However, with so many former names signing on, it's highly likely that we'll see even more join in on the lawsuit soon. We don't know the full details of their claims, but it could certainly turn into a big news story, and a PR nightmare for WWE if their case continues to push forward.
