MORE NXT Wrestlers Worked WWE SmackDown Dark Matches Last Week
Following on from Shotzi Blackheart, Karrion Kross, and Bronson Reed are the following...
Three wrestlers currently working on NXT wrestlers dark matches at last week's WWE SmackDown tapings, notes PWInsider's Mike Johnson.
Newcomer Odyssey Jones scored a notable victory over the more tenured Austin Theory in the first match. Jones is currently competing in NXT's Breakout Tournament, in which he defeated Andre Chase in the first round, while Theory is a more prominent player as part of The Way with Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Indi Hartwell.
This was Jones' third SmackDown dark match to date. The previous week saw him team with Xyon Quinn in a losing effort to Theory and the returning Davey Boy Smith Jr.
Elsewhere, Hartwell wrestled Aliyah in her own SmackDown dark match. Alyiah took the victory one week after being traded from NXT to the main roster in exchange for Mandy Rose. This was Indi's first SmackDown dark match.
There is currently no indication that Hartwell, Jones, and Theory are in-line for call-ups, though Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox, Toni Storm, and Karrion Kross have all progressed to the main roster after dark match "tryouts." Bronson Reed has also been linked with a call-up after working several untelevised bouts for the blue brand.
