Having picked up a big win over Mike Santana at TNA Sacrifice on Friday, that win came at a very real cost for Mustafa Ali.

As per Fightful Select, Ali actually dislocated his jaw during the match. Not just that, but the former X Division Champion was then able to "correct" his jaw and finish the contest. The report notes that Ali is not expected to miss any time, which was further backed up by him not just appearing, but wrestling at TNA's post-Sacrifice TV tapings over the weekend - where he again competed against Santana.

That Sacrifice match was just Mustafa's second TNA about since returning to the company earlier this year. Prior to that, Ali brought an end to his previous TNA run last summer after coming up short in his attempts to dethrone Nic Nemeth as the TNA World Champion. January saw the Chicago native return to the Anthem promotion, with it announced that he'd formally signed with TNA. As part of that return, Ali immediately put Mike Santana in his crosshairs, which is what led us to where we are today.

Mustafa Ali vs. Mike Santana

Since leaving WWE in late 2023, Mustafa Ali has put on some absolute bangers all across the globe, be that for TNA, a smattering of appearances for New Japan, a one-off in AAA earlier this year, or in notable independent promotions such as GCW, DEFY, REVOLVER, or House of Glory.

Speaking of House of Glory, Mike Santana is someone else who's been completely killing it since departing AEW 12 months ago. With his reign as HOG World Champion now approaching a mammoth 500 days, Santana has well and truly stepped out of the tag team shackles and marked himself out as a top singles star, with the 34-year-old putting on some phenomenal matches against names like Josh Alexander, KENTA, Masato Tanaka, Steve Maclin, Amazing Red, Penta, Psycho Clown, and Ricky Starks/Saints across the past year or so.

As for Mustafa Ali vs. Mike Santana, without giving away too many spoilers for upcoming TNA programming, that rivalry looks like it's only just getting started. At the time of writing, it's 1-1 when looking at the previous singles meetings between the two, with Santana picking up a DQ win over Ali in a match that aired back in October. That DQ led to Santana teaming with Joe Hendry to pick up a win over Mustafa and Campaign Singh in the only other time Santana and Ali have squared off.
