New Day Chosen To Host WrestleMania 33
But still no ice cream.
It's a New Day at WrestleMania, yes it is!
It seems a bit random, but The New Day revealed that they're going to be hosting WrestleMania 33. The trio broke the story on TMZ Live Today. Kofi Kingston had this to say in the interview:
"Our main goal is to have fun. Because when we're having fun, everyone is having fun."
This is strange for a few reasons. New Day has been struggling a bit as a group ever since they lost the tag titles to Cesaro and Sheamus. They've felt pretty directionless, so this seems like a way to fit them into Mania without actually putting them into a match (though it doesn't completely rule them out of performing double duty). Also, they seemed to have peaked in popularity roughly a year ago. And since we see them every week on RAw, they don't carry the same gravitas as previous hosts in Rock and Hogan. Management must still be high on them, though, otherwise they wouldn't be given such a high-profile gig.
Still, this will probably work out pretty well for Kofi, Big E and Xavier. Instead of being stuck in something like an 8-man tag match, they'll receive multiple segments at the biggest show of the year. Here's to hoping they have something memorable planned.
