Rumours of Jim Ross' AEW demise have been greatly exaggerated, it seems.

The legendary wrestling announcer hit Twitter to shoot down talk that he was on the verge of being phased out of AEW's announce booth earlier this week, following a report that Ross would be transitioned into another role. Later, AEW owner Tony Khan insinuated that Ross would have a full-time commentary position for as long as he wants one, doing so on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Khan has now told the same outlet that there is no truth to the reports.

Dave Meltzer writes in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Khan called Ross personally, letting him know there was nothing to it. While reporters have told Meltzer that there were multiple sources for this story, and the rumour has circulated within AEW for a while, all appears to be well re: Ross and AEW at the moment.

J.R. has been with AEW since day one. Occupying a key colour commentary role on Dynamite and pay-per-view, he also works as an analyst and senior advisor for the promotion, while also stepping in for the occasion televised interview segment.
