Brand new NWA World Champion Tyrus has lashed out at "woke trolls" for criticising his title win on social media.

The ex-WWE star (who worked for Vince McMahon as Brodus Clay) refused to hold back on Twitter when posting a promo pic of him proudly holding the belt. Amongst other things, Tyrus said that "boos and hate build [his] self esteem".

He also claims the outrage from pro wrestling fans online gives him "focus", makes him "strong" and helps him keep "winning". The wrestler then encouraged any haters to keep watching him wrestle, and said they should check out his late-night TV work too.

Twitter blew up with criticism when Tyrus pinned Trevor Murdoch at NWA's Hard Times 3 event - Matt Cardona was also involved in the match, and most critics believed he'd be the better pick to hold Billy Corgan's belt.

The Smashing Pumpkins leader disagreed, and stuck the title on Tyrus instead.

Corgan and the NWA in general are currently embroiled in a lot of back-and-forth with former champ Nick Aldis. He left the promotion on 6 November, and has since called it a "toxic brand".
