New Tag Champs Crowned At WWE NXT DEADL1NE
WWE veterans make the trek to Florida to add to their tag title trophy case.
The New Day are your new NXT Tag Team Champions, knocking off Pretty Deadly in a competitive, fun match that saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods become the latest main roster superstars to venture to developmental to challenge the superstars of tomorrow.
New Day interrupted Pretty Deadly's Christmas celebration on last week's NXT and challenged the tag champs, a quick turnaround to set up what ended up being a title switch.
The match itself was enjoyable, with both teams gelling well and producing some really nice action. There was a fair amount of comedy along the way, which given the duos makes perfect sense, but it didn't detract from the wrestling.
By capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship, New Day become one of just a handful of teams to have won all three active tag titles in WWE. The Revival (now FTR) and the Street Profits are the other two teams to have accomplished the feat. New Day of course are the first team to win main roster tag gold first.
The decision to strap up New Day in NXT is an interesting one, but it likely could be by design to get more eyeballs on the developmental program, and also to give Pretty Deadly a bigger opponent - and if they knock off New Day to recapture the tag titles, it would be a pretty huge accomplishment for them.
We'll have to tune in Tuesday to see what's next for New Day in NXT.
