New Title Match Announced For WWE SummerSlam 2021
An updated SummerSlam 2021 card as WWE adds another title fight.
WWE has announced a new match for SummerSlam 2021, with Jimmy and Jey Uso putting their SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the line against Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
Ostensibly as an extension of Roman Reigns' feud recent feud with Rey, The Usos have been feuding with The Mysterios on SmackDown lately. Jimmy and Jey took the straps from Rey and Dominik on the Money In The Bank 2021 Kickoff Show last month, having previously failed to do so twice on the 4 June episode of SmackDown, so SummerSlam could be the blow-off point for the rivalry.
This addition takes the pay-per-view's match count up to four, with just over two weeks to go.
SummerSlam 2021 goes down in Las Vegas, Nevada's Allegiant Stadium on 21 August. WWE has already sold more than 40,000 of the 45,000+ tickets made available, with attendees required to wear masks after mandates were reintroduced in certain NV counties.
Here's the card at a glance:-
Universal Title: Roman Reigns (c) vs. John Cena
WWE Title: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Goldberg
Raw Women's Title Triple Threat: Nikki A.S.H. (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley
SmackDown Tag Team Titles: The Usos (c) vs. The Mysterios
