Following the recent news of WWE launching an NXT India brand, it was revealed that this arm of WWE will be launched with the WWE Superstar Spectacle event on 26 January. And now, there’s an update on the current plan for that special.

As per PWInsider, WWE has now decided to tape Superstar Spectacle from the Capitol Wrestling Center on 21 January. Previous plans had called for the company to spread this taping across several days, but that has now been changed.

The 26 January air date for Superstar Spectacle is Indian Republic Day, and the event will simultaneously air on WWE Network and the Indian channels Sony TEN 1 and Sony TEN 3. This special will feature Hindi and English language broadcasts, and it’s expected that the event will be around the two-hour mark in terms of duration.

Local advertising for WWE Superstar Spectacle has been heavily built around former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, the Bollywood Boys, the Indus Sher tag team last seen in NXT, powerhouse female performer Kavita Devi, and several names who WWE signed following Mumbai tryouts last year.

There’s also speculation that the likes of AJ Styles, Charlotte Flair, The New Day and Rey Mysterio may be utilised to bring an added layer of star power to Superstar Spectacle.

It’s expected that WWE Superstar Spectacle will act as a loose launching point for the NXT India brand in much the same way WWE used the 2018 United Kingdom Championship Tournament to formally announce the NXT UK brand.
