New WWE Tag Team Being Formed?
What a U-turn for Mike Kanellis...
PW Insider reports that former Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese and want-away 205 talent Mike Kanellis were paired together in NXT live event matches over the weekend, as an experiment to see if the duo are ready for an NXT television tag-run together.
Kanellis has been barely seen in WWE since requesting his release from the company in October 2019 with many speculating that he would indeed be free to explore the world outside of Vince McMahon's empire, sooner rather than later.
Yet, in a spectacular turn of events, Kanellis has been offered a lifeline in the form of an odd partnership with Nese and the two won their first match as a team at an NXT live event in Melbourne, Florida over the weekend. The win came over Mohamed and Nick Ogarelli.
Kanellis still has a few years left on his WWE contract. So, this potentially consistent outlet to perform on TV - which is all he really wants - could also eat away a sizeable chunk of his remaining time with the company, whilst finally giving him the chance to actually wrestle for his income, again.
Whether this team actually makes it to NXT programming is another question entirely, but fingers crossed 'Kanell-ESE' get a chance to show off what they can do on the black and yellow brand.
