WWE will likely take its current ThunderDome setup to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Floridam once their Amway Center residency comes to an end.

An exclusive report from eWrestlingNews.com's Ryan Clark revealed the above, following on from the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer's recent claims that WWE was considering the baseball stadium and other nearby outdoor arenas.

The change could come as soon as next week. In October, Spectrum Sports 360's Jon Alba sourced an amendment to WWE's contract with the City of Orlando stating the ThunderDome would remain in the Amway Center until 24 November. That would cover everything up to next week's episode of Raw, but not SmackDown.

Opened as the Florida Suncoast Dome in 1990, Tropicana Field was actually renamed the ThunderDome to coincide with the Tampa Bay Lightning making it their home three years later. Tropicana signed a 30-year naming rights contract in 1996.

Tropicana Field is currently occupied by the Tampa Bay Rays, whose MLB season isn't expected to commence until 1 April 2021. WWE is leaving the Amway Center as the Orlando Magic need the building for the NBA season tipoff on 22 December.
