New WWE SmackDown GM and ex-NWA man Nick Aldis isn't sure fans around the globe will believe him, but he's "excited" to be part of the market leader in a non-wrestling role.

Aldis told Busted Open Radio that conversations behind the scenes with both Triple H and Paul Heyman opened his eyes to what's possible if he embraces the GM stint and works hard. As for being thrilled about the on-screen authority gig, Nick says the role is "very rewarding".

He'd previously been rather hands-on with NWA operations away from the ring, but now feels buoyed by what's possible in WWE. Now, instead of scrapping for every minor thing, Aldis can "pitch it to the most powerful people in the industry".

Nick admitted he's "in awe" of "the beast" that is WWE. In a candid moment during the interview, Aldis also said it'd take him a while to get up to speed with the way things work. Then, he teased fans who want to see him wrestle some matches by saying he'll be "ready, willing and able" should that come up in the future.

For now, Nick is just enjoying the ride and easing himself in.
