Nick Aldis Turned Down AEW Offer

Current NWA champ refused to abandon alliance.

Nick Aldis was one of the most important components of last year's All In, the huge independent show which ultimately paved the way for the formation of AEW. After playing such a major role in Cody Rhodes' NWA title chase, you'd imagine he was one of the first names put forward to Tony Khan as he assembled his supergroup of talent.

Well, apparently he was, but turned down an offer to join the nascent promotion unless he could continue his work for the NWA.

Speaking with Daily DDT, Nick Aldis explained all:

I was made an offer by AEW. I counter-offered with, ‘I’d like to be able to do both.’ I’d like to work with them because obviously I have great admiration for Cody and the Bucks for what they’ve been able to do. But I wasn’t prepared to walk away from the two years of work I’ve done with the NWA. And that was that. I left it open with, ‘If you can find a way to keep doing this and do your show, I’ll do your show.’

Aldis went on to explain that walking away from his NWA work from the past two years didn't "make any sense".

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
