NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 12 (August 1) - B BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Taichi Vs. Jay White

A duel between B Block’s biggest d*ckheads began as billed with an exhausting amount of stalling at sh*thousery from both men. And yet, the well-tested collective patience of the Fukuoka crowd ended up rewarded by a match that developed into quite the potent Sports Entertainment spectacle.

Very bad men backed by equally unethical aides, Jay White and Taichi’s rule-breaking rollercoaster was enhanced by the ongoing battle between respective interference-runners Gedo and Yoshinobu Kanemaru, particularly as the audience took to Taichi’s side for the final stretch.

White is a truly magnificent heel. Just - just - deadly enough between the ropes to maintain his sense of menace, ‘Switchblade’ cheats because he can, not always because he needs to. His is a special skill set that packs extra sting and suspense when he drops his opponents with a raft of nasty neck attacks en route to his devastating Blade Runner. The sequence served him well here - all initially looked lost for the Bullet Club man until Gedo dragged the referee to the floor mid-three count. A low blow later and he was well in charge by the time the official found his way back into the ring. Two more points continued his successful late surge after a disastrous start. Few others in the entire block carry his confidence, but this presents a far greater problem when said trait is actually justified.

White really could go all the way.
