NJPW Scotch Gedo Exit Rumour
Booker did not step down before Dominion.
Wrestling social media was ablaze with heartbreak yesterday, with the news that long-time booker Gedo had stepped down from his New Japan Pro Wrestling position prior to Dominion. The story first surfaced courtesy of a translated report from Japanese wrestling website Miruhon.
Uproxx's wrestling arm, With Spandex, contacted New Japan for comment. A source told them that rumours of Gedo's exit had been greatly exaggerated - outright fabricated, in fact - with one staffer saying it was a "crazy rumour".
Gedo, a journeyman tag wrestling throughout the '90s, joined NJPW in 2001 as it was entering the first stages of Inokism. In late 2010s, he was handed the book for the company's Junior Heavyweight division, before his prowess with the pen saw him promoted to head booker in 2015.
The company has went from strength to strength under the guidance of Gedo, earning national and international recognition whilst making bona-fide superstars out of Tetsuya Naito, Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada.
For now, at least, it remains under his experienced purview.
