NJPW's Kota Ibushi Teases HUGE Dream Match With Top AEW Star

NJPW Heavyweight & Intercontinental Champion Kota Ibushi wants AEW's finest in the ring...

Kota Ibushi was on Twitter teasing a potential dream match with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega a few hours ago, claiming he wants an in-ring reunion with his most storied pro wrestling associate.

Google translates the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion's original tweet (which was in his native Japanese) as follows:-

2008 ... I haven't forgotten. That time, when I asked for a match on YouTube. At that time, I was desperate to spread professional wrestling The position has been reversed. But now the chance has finally come I want to have a full-scale competition. I think this will definitely raise the professional wrestling world and fans. Now, professional wrestling needs more stimulation!

While Ibushi doesn't reference his former Golden Lovers tag partner by name, Ibushi's first line is a direct reference to his old home promotion, DDT, bringing Omega in after Kenny had become a fan of 'The Golden Star' and created a video of him working a match that would have been at home in that company. Kenny then arrived in Japan in August 2008, stating over a decade of love and war with Ibushi.

The Golden Lovers last rolled together as part of the Golden Elite in New Japan in 2018, before Omega left for AEW in January 2019. With Kenny as the AEW World Champion and Ibushi winning NJPW's top two belts at Wrestle Kingdom 15, anticipation would be high for another match between the two, though this would be contingent on AEW and NJPW forming a working relationship.
