PWInsider are reporting that some big names gathered backstage to watch WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Sunday night.

Amongst those present were WWE Hall of Famers Nikolai Volkoff and Pat Patterson, Paige and The Undertaker. Volkoff lives close by to Philadelphia in Baltimore, so he was just visiting. The same largely goes for Patterson, although (as the man who created the match to begin with) he was also brought in to advise on the Rumble lay out and add his expert opinion.

The saddest story is Paige. She was backstage mingling, but couldn't compete due to injury. All the Brit could do was watch everyone else make history in the first ever female Rumble.

After his dull appearance at Raw 25, Undertaker was keen to watch his wife be part of that inaugural female Rumble. Michelle McCool entered at #14. 'Taker reportedly gave no indication whether or not he'd be working WrestleMania.

Other names of note included several NXT stars that were there to provide backup for the men's Rumble match. Once it became clear they weren't required, some left the building instead of staying to watch the full show.
