Former WWE wrestler 'The Pope' Elijah Burke was taken to the emergency room after getting hurt at this past week's NWA Hard Times 2 pay-per-view.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson notes that an ambulance took Burke to an Atlanta, Georgia hospital after he picked up a knock while being thrown into the ring steps during an angle following the Trevor Murdoch vs. Mike Know main event.

Burke was making a surprise return. Introduced by Mick Folley to even the odds when Matt Cardona and Knox were beating Murdoch down, he was put into the steps, immediately going limp. He stayed down for a while after the pay-per-view had concluded, with NWA owner Billy Corgan and other officials checking on him, leading to the ambulance being called.

'The Pope' underwent X-rays and additional tests before being released from hospital on Sunday morning, as noted by Johnson in a follow-up report. He was not planned to be involved in any physical activity during that day's NWA Powerrr television tapings.

In an update, Burke has stated that he is "100% well", thanking the NWA family for looking out for him:-
