NXT TakeOver WarGames II: 8 Things It Got Right

Aleister Black is once again a contender for the NXT Title and Johnny Gargano's maddened obsession with tearing down Tommaso Ciampa resulted in him losing sight of his morals. Those were the chief plot points coming out of Saturday night's TakeOver match between Black and 'Johnny Wrestling'.

The heelish tendencies Gargano displayed here showed his flexibility as a performer too. He couldn't rely on the underdog babyface comeback tale, and so he had to slowly descend into desperation as Black countered his every move and picked up the win. Do not be shocked if this leads to a Triple Threat title scene heading into the new year.

Gargano's plunge into madness is an angle that has legs beyond this.

For now, it's nice to know that Black (one of the best workers in WWE full stop) is back in the top title mix again. He and Ciampa will be able to have some duelling banter on the Network before Gargano sticks his nose back in and lets his bitterness over Tommaso's betrayal warp his own mind.
