NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin Delayed Until 2021
Ill-fated Ireland event pushed back again.
As was reasonably expected, NXT UK TakeOver Dublin will not be happening in 2020, as Ireland continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report by PWInsider, WWE have made the decision to once more push the event back, from its rescheduled date of 25 October to 20 June 2021.
NXT UK's first major Network show on the Emerald Isle had been set for 26 April this year, before the burgeoning health crisis put a necessary halt to those plans.
As of 18 September, Dublin was placed under Level 3 of the government's coronavirus-combating restrictions. The third most severe level bans all indoor gatherings - a category under which TakeOver falls. The step-up in limitations was instigated in response to rising incidences of the virus within the Irish capital.
Given the situation, there was no possibility WWE could go ahead with a show in the city as early as next month.
Though the date has changed, NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin is still expected to be held at the 3Arena, with a kick-off time of 4pm. Obviously, the landscape of NXT UK will look very different by next June, so there are no matches currently penciled in.
