Seemingly set for a major push on WWE’s NXT brand, Ridge Holland suffered a hugely disappointing injury blow this past October.

Having dislocated and fractured his left ankle, dislocated his right knee patella, and ruptured a patella tendon, the former rugby player underwent surgery the very next day. And now, he’s given an update on where he’s at in the recovery process.

Recently speaking to talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy about his injuries, Holland detailed:

“Pretty freak incident. On my left leg I fractured and dislocated my ankle, then on my right leg I dislocated the kneecap and ruptured my patella tendons. Kind of a buy one, get one free on injuries! But it’s coming on well. The WWE medical staff are top notch and they’ve got me well on the road to recovery.
Everyone was really helpful, from the doctors, to the trainers, to Triple H. It’s just a really good support system, and it’s nice to know people care.”

In terms of a return timeframe, the English powerhouse didn’t give any specifics, but he did explain how he was originally told it could be up to nine months that he’d be out of action.

“It’s early days yet, but the doctor has said six to nine months, so I’m just taking it day-by-day and see how the knee and ankle feels. If I look too far in the future, I’ll probably take my focus off what needs to be done today. So yeah, we’ll see how it goes.”

Before his unfortunate injury layoff, Ridge Holland had laid out the Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole and seemed destined to be a part of Pat McAfee’s current heel group.
