Gimmicks are professional wrestling's greatest gimmick. It differentiates sports entertainment from all its competition. As violent, innovative, and impressive as the in-ring action gets, fans are equally drawn to the pro-wrestling product by its storytelling.

A good gimmick cements a performer's place on the card. To truly succeed in the wrestling business, whether hitting a dropkick or dispensing taunting disses, an athlete must be a star anytime they are caught on camera. While some of the best gimmicks can spring from a performer's personal life, such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, and CM Punk, complete fantasy is also responsible for equally as iconic gimmicks i.e. The Undertaker and Kane.

However, some times the creative juices just don't stop flowing and the only remnants left form an amorphous puddle. As integral as gimmicks are to the industry, they are even more crucial to the success and attainment of an individual performer.

As controversial as Dave Meltzer is among wrestling fans, googling the words "worst" and "wrestling" summons him in seconds. Using Wrestling Observer Newsletter as a looking glass through 30 years of "worst gimmicks", we are here to provide some severely delayed positivity.
