The deeply weird feud between Pat McAfee and former NXT Champion Adam Cole reached a new level on last night's show, with the ex-NFL man knocking the Undisputed Era leader out to close the show.

Cole was out at ringside, supporting Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish in their Tag Team Title match against Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel, with McAfee on commentary. McAfee was typically outspoken in the booth and Cole became progressively annoyed with his comments. This led to Adam stepping to Pat, who said Cole needed to chill out, then lit the fuse by calling him an "angry elf" and throwing water at him.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels led a gang of officials out to separate the two. Fish and O'Reilly lost the match in the confusion and McAfee made another jab at Cole's height as he was dragged away, before eventually punting the former champion in the head on the announce table.

It looks like WWE is building to a match between the duo at TakeOver XXX, having built the feud following an appearance on McAfee's sports show in July. The former football player has never worked a bout but has been with WWE since 2018.
