Royal Rumble 2019 is still well over three months away, but media sources are already speculating on who could triumph in Phoenix, Arizona, which is exactly what the usually reliable WrestleVotes did over the weekend.

During a Q&A session, they claimed that WWE's current plans call for a repeat winner in the men's over-the-top battle royal on 27 January, which may comes as a surprise to anyone who had The Miz, Daniel Bryan, or even Andrade 'Cien' Almas pegged as a potential victor.

On the full-time roster, this year's winner Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton (who triumphed in 2009 & 2017), Roman Reigns (2015), Sheamus (2012), and the soon-to-return Rey Mysterio (2006) all fit the criteria. Bringing part-timers into the mix, Triple H (2002 & 2016), The Undertaker (2007), and John Cena (2008 & 2013) would also be eligible.

It isn't exactly the freshest list of potential winners, but aside from Sheamus, a case could be made for each of the above - though some are likelier than others.

A lot can and (and will) change between now and 27 January and this speculation should, as always, be taken with a hint of cynicism. Still, WrestleVotes' claim leaves WWE with a limited list of options.
