After four weeks, the first round of the 32-competitor WWE Cruiserweight Classic is done with. After 16 matches, only 16 wrestlers remain as we head into the second round, and what a breath of fresh air the tournament has been so far.

Though not every match was a riveting showcase, there were no outright duds in the first round, largely providing a grand stage for some of the world's most talented stars, such as Zack Sabre Jr, T.J. Perkins and Kota Ibushi, to show their stuff.

It goes without saying that the consistent quality here has completely shamed both Raw and Smackdown over the last month, and hopefully WWE will pay attention to how strongly received the competition has been so far.

The lack of filler and the focus on wrestling and sportmanship over terrible storylines is something many fans woud love to see more of on mainline WWE programming. Plus, the commentary pairing of Daniel Bryan and Mauro Ranallo is absolute perfection.

Here is every CWC Round 1 match ranked from worst to best...

16. Noam Dar Vs. Gurv Sihra

Result: Sihra taps to Dar's knee bar (5:28).

Rating: The worst match in the CWC so far still wasn't terrible by any means, it just wasn't very exciting and didn't flow massively well compared to some of the clinics put on in the first round.

It didn't help that the crowd weren't really into it at all, and both competitors came off as pretty sloppy during a few sequences. Neither seemed to be able to work the crowd to their will, and the in-ring work was boring above all else, at least for the standards of a tourney like this. At least it was kept relatively short. 4/10
