Ranking Every TLC Match In WWE History - From Worst To Best

Long story short; TLC 2016 has an awful lot to live up to...

Remember when pay-per-views were a once-a-month deal? No, me neither.

With the twists and turns of Survivor Series still being digested, we’re already being prepped for the next stop on the WWE PPV calendar; the Dec. 4 TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs show. Jaded cynicism aside though, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

On the one hand, it means we’re just days away from an AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose TLC match, which promises to be a quality affair. And it also means that this seems like as a good a time as any to take a stab at ranking each and every TLC match in WWE history.

Over the years, we’ve seen 18 of these contests since the stipulation was conceived in August of 2000, and by and large they’ve all been pretty awesome. Obviously some have been rather better than others—as we’ll soon see in the coming slides—but before we get to the good stuff, it’s only fair we revisit some of the more forgettable encounters…

18. CM Punk Vs. Ryback (WWE Raw, Jan 2013)

CM Punk and Ryback share a fairly storied past. Unfortunately, the notoriety of their rivalry was born out of the former’s comments about the latter’s in-ring ability, rather than the quality of any of their matches together.

So perhaps it isn’t too surprising that their TLC match from Raw in 2013—the first episode of the New Year—was hardly what you’d describe as a classic.

The match was solid if unspectacular, which isn’t the kind of praise you’d usually reserve for a stipulation as extreme as this one. Also, the fact that it went down on Raw rather than a PPV meant it just didn’t quite feel as special as some of its more esteemed TLC peers.

Though it wasn’t necessarily a stinker, when compared with some of the other matches of this type it’s difficult to rank Punk vs. Ryback any higher than this.
