Real Reason Bobby Fish Left AEW

Full details on Bobby Fish's surprising split from All Elite Wrestling.

Last week brought news of a surprising departure from All Elite Wrestling, with former Undisputed Elite member Bobby Fish leaving the company following his contract's expiration.

Details on why, exactly, Fish and AEW had gone their separate ways weren't revealed at the time, though Fightful Select has since reported that the two parties could not come to terms on a new contract. Specifically, Fish and AEW couldn't reach a financial agreement despite mutual interest in securing a renewal.

AEW believed that the split was amicable until Fish started using social media to take what many fans interpreted as shots at CM Punk and the company. Six days after appearing to criticise Punk's kicks in his 25 August loss to Jon Moxley, Bobby was officially a free agent.

There are also understood to be problems between Fish and Punk following their match last October. But while Fish had told people he didn't like Punk's attitude in the wake of that bout, this isn't believed to have played a role in his AEW departure.

Fightful note that Fish still has friends in AEW, though the promotion hadn't come up with much for him creatively following long-time ally Kyle O'Reilly's injury in June.
