Real Reason For Rusev's Absence From WWE TV Revealed (WWE News)
Rusev hasn't been spotted on WWE screens since late-July. Here's why, and when he's expected back.
Rusev is expected to return to WWE television at some point "in September".
Fightful Select has heard from sources at the promotion's Performance Center that the Bulgarian has been battling some niggling injuries, including a potential neck problem that he suffered during his last match vs. Je'Von Evans on the 27 July edition of Raw.
Evans won that bout, but it's believed officials almost put a stop to it before Rusev asked to continue and finish the match. In a scary moment, his hands "went numb" midway through, and there were real concerns that he'd been seriously hurt. Thankfully, Rusev was able to keep going, but ended up "rushing off" to get attended to by doctors.
Fightful noted reports at the time suggesting the veteran was instead seen "storming off" after the match. He wasn't angry, just worried and wanted to be seen to by medics. That's completely understandable given the fact he'd just lost feeling in his hands.
WWE eventually put the brutish midcarder in concussion protocol afterwards, and then returned to the PC to work off any ring rust a few weeks after that. Unfortunately, an undisclosed illness gripped Rusev, so he's been dealing with that too. He's still waiting to get cleared by doctors.
Despite all of this upheaval, the 'Bulgarian Brute' is expected to make his comeback soon enough. He doesn't really have any major storylines going on at the moment anyway, so he didn't leave a gaping hole on the Raw scene. Fingers crossed Rusev is healthy and raring to go though.
