Real Reason Kevin Dunn Quit WWE

Final word on WHY Kevin Dunn resigned from WWE.

WWE may have praised long-serving executive Kevin Dunn on his way out of the company on 1 January, though the internal situation was far from rosy before Dunn's resignation.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that despite the positive public farewell, Dunn's relationship with WWE had become "more and more frayed" over the last few weeks. One source claimed, specifically, that it was "getting uglier", even after Dunn had tendered his resignation over the Christmas period.

Dunn, who had effectively headed WWE's television production for the best part of four decades, wasn't going to let anyone else dictate his work. With new owners Endeavor looking to cut WWE's costs, Dunn departed.

A belief exists that Dunn left the company because he felt disrespected as a "Vince McMahon guy" under the new regime, which has greatly diminished McMahon's power as Executive Chairman. To this, Johnson wrote that Dunn was "the Vince McMahon guy."

The assumption that Dunn is outright retiring following his WWE departure is apparently false. Sources indicate he is interested in working on film and television projects, though he isn't expected to work for any other wrestling promotion.
