Real Reason Santana Missed This Week's AEW Dynamite

Unsurprisingly, Santana was NOT detained and arrested for using a fork at Blood & Guts.

Santana missed this week's episode of AEW Dynamite due to sickness.

Per Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, the Inner Circle man was resting while recovering from a minor illness. He added that under normal circumstances, Santana may have ended up working the tapings regardless, but AEW is taking extra precautions during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

There's no word on the exact nature of Santana's sickness or when he might return to television.

Santana's tag team partner, Ortiz, explained the absence on Dynamite, stating that MJF had had him arrested and detained after using a fork in last week's gruesome Blood & Guts match. The rest of The Inner Circle were present and correct on Dynamite despite the WarGames-adjacent bout's heavy physical toll.

Santana and Ortiz have been with AEW since August 2019, when they took out the Lucha Brothers and Young Bucks at All Out. They aligned with Chris Jericho and the rest of the Inner Circle in the group's formation angle on the first episode of Dynamite (2 October 2019) and have been with the stable ever since. The AEW World Tag Team Titles still elude them, though.
