WWE knew that pretty much everybody, from fans to critics alike, handpicked Roxanne Perez as the firm favourite to win Saturday's women's Money In The Bank ladder match. According to WrestleVotes, that's exactly why Triple H and his creative team went with surprise package Tiffany Stratton instead.

The now 2-time winner initially wasn't pencilled in to unclip the briefcase and pose at the top of the ladder, but WWE "wants to stay one step ahead of everyone’s predictions and thought process". Of note, the company's own pundits predicted that the Judgment Day's Perez would come away with the win then look to win either the Women's or Women's World Titles ASAP.

Now, Roxanne will have to play the waiting game - she can still go after new Women's World Champ and stablemate Liv Morgan on Raw, but won't have the briefcase to tease cash-ins. Meanwhile, Tiffany will do precisely that, and presumably opposite her on-screen pal Chelsea Green.

Many have been brainstorming their own fantasy booking on a Tiffy heel turn, so look out for that. WrestleVotes didn't go into details about a possible alignment switch on SmackDown in coming weeks, but they do reckon that Stratton cashing in on Green is likely.

So, there you have it: WWE knew that Perez was the bookies fave, so they went with a quick pivot to crown Tiffany as the winner over the weekend instead. This "doing different to be different" strategy could come into play for next year's Royal Rumble matches as well.
