Real Reason WWE Just Split AJ Styles & Omos Up
Backstage Update On WWE's Plans For AJ Styles & Omos After Split.
WWE formally pulled the trigger on splitting up the AJ Styles/Omos tag team during last night's Raw, with the wrestlers turning on each other over the course of three segments.
This began with The Miz sowing discontent on Miz TV. Then, Omos refused a tag from Styles while the tandem were wrestling Rey and Dominik Mysterio, leading to AJ getting pinned. Styles tried to attack the big man after the bell but was put down, leading to a singles bout between the two being booked for next week.
WrestleVotes is now reporting that WWE ended up fast-forwarding to the split. This is because the company has "significant plans" for each man in 2022, so they wanted to wrap this program prior to Royal Rumble 2022 and WrestleMania 38:-
If it felt like they sped up the Omos & AJ Styles spilt, it’s because they did. Source says both superstars have significant plans in early 2022, and wanted any type of blow off program done prior to the major Rumble & Mania events.

Styles and Omos had been together since October 2020, when AJ reintroduced the up-and-comer as his 'Personal Colossus' following the big man's stint as Raw Underground's doorman. Their peak when they captured The New Day's Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 37.
It was reported in October that WWE had considered splitting the duo in that month's draft, only to decide Omos wasn't ready for a singles push.
