Comfortably the most shocking move in the recent 2020 WWE Draft was The New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods heading to Raw, leaving long-time ally Big E all alone on SmackDown. This came just minutes after Woods and Kingston had become SmackDown Tag Team Champions on last week's show and left the group visibly despondent (per their kayfabe roles).

Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE split the popular trio for E's benefit. The promotion reportedly wants to keep his singles run going and felt that separating him from Woods and Kingston was the best way to do that.

Big E's singles push commenced in August, when Kofi joined long-term absentee Woods on the treatment table, giving the former Intercontinental and NXT Champion his first true solo run since The New Day formed in 2014. Last week's SmackDown saw the culmination of a feud with Sheamus, whom he finally bested in an ugly, bloody Falls Count Anywhere bout - and a strong one at that.

Woods and Kingston swapped Tag Team Championships with the Street Profits on this week's Raw, taking Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford's red straps while handing over their blue ones.
