Roderick Strong has been part of WWE NXT since October 2016, but his character hadn't seen much exposition until recently. That changed on the April 26th episode of NXT, which screened the first "Who Is Roderick Strong?" vignette, providing an emotional glimpse into his life away from the ring.

It earned widespread acclaim among fans, and a second vignette aired on this week's show. The positive reaction extends backstage too, and according to this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are very happy with how they've gone over.

The backstage feeling is that there has been a major difference in Strong's crowd reactions since the first video aired. They were put together as an experiment to see if vignettes were still effective in getting a wrestler over, and the answer looks like a "yes."

The former ROH Champion set his sights on the NXT Title shortly after debuting last year, but lost a number one contender's match to Hideo Itami on this week's show. He was attacked by Sanity after NXT went off the air, and is expected to finish his feud with the group at TakeOver: Chicago on May 20th.
