Recently-Released AEW Star Reveals Talks With WWE

This ex-AEW wrestler almost joined WWE before jumping to IMPACT instead.

Frankie Kazarian held talks with WWE chiefs before ultimately deciding on a move to IMPACT Wrestling after leaving AEW.

The former AEW Tag-Team Champ told PWInsider Elite that he "had great talks" with WWE and has "nothing but great things to say about everybody in that organisation". There was also no "resentment or bitterness" between Frankie and All Elite management - they parted ways amicably.

A return to old stomping grounds IMPACT just seemed right to Kazarian. He previously worked for TNA between 2003-2014, and enjoyed a lot of success there. Now, in 2023, Frankie wants to "bet on [himself]" and enjoy more good times in the promotion.

He was very much "thanks but no thanks" when it came to both extending his stay in AEW and trying out for WWE. The 45-year old remains in peak physical shape, and loved his cameo appearances for IMPACT whilst still under contract to Tony Khan's company.

It's certainly brave of Kazarian to knock back the chance of an extended WWE run before hanging up his boots. Credit to the man for backing himself to make a splash elsewhere.
