Repackaging WWE Survivor Series 1987
4. Team USA Versus The Four Man Gang
'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan (captain), Sgt. Slaughter, Ken Patera and Don 'The Rock' Muraco (with 'Superstar' Billy Graham) versus The One Man Gang (captain), The Bolsheviks and The Iron Sheik (with Slick).
Every once in a while, a PPV hosts to a match that's a recipe for bedlam. This is that contest.
At the time, Sgt. Slaughter was under contract with Pro Wrestling USA, a collaboration of the territories attempting to stem WWF's national expansion, however his stint was uneventful. One imagines for the right price, Vince McMahon could've negotiated a one-night-only appearance for Sarge at Survivor Series.
Slaughter slots in alongside captain Duggan here, who had been warring with Nikolai Volkoff, The Iron Sheik AND The One Man Gang at various points through the year. Also joining Duggan's crusade are Olympic weightlifter Ken Patera and Don Muraco, the latter intent on revenge after The One Man Gang permanently shelved his mentor, 'Superstar' Billy Graham.
On the downswing of his career, Patera succumbs to The Sheik's Camel Clutch first. Duggan blindsides Boris Zhukov with a Three Point Stance Clothesline for the next fall, which triggers a ring-clearing melee. The brawl sees Duggan, Muraco, Volkoff and The One Man Gang disqualified after trading blows with every object not nailed down at ringside.
Renewing past hostilities, the contest boils down to Slaughter and The Iron Sheik before Duggan sneaks a 2x4 shot by the official, enabling Slaughter to escape the Camel Clutch and lock in the Cobra Clutch for the duke.
