Report: AEW "Extremely Concerned" About COVID-19 Impacting Upcoming Shows

Surges in NYC, Chicago, St. Louis, and more have left AEW worried about upcoming events.

All Elite Wrestling officials are reportedly concerned about the impact that rising COVID-19 case numbers could have on upcoming shows in New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, and beyond.

This is according to Bodyslam's Cassidy Haynes, who claims AEW is "extremely concerned" by the situation, leading to internal conversations on what the company will do if the delta variant forces parts of the country to shut down again.

A potential return to Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, AEW's home for the bulk of the pandemic, could be on the cards.

Haynes had the situation described to him as an "all hands on deck" scenario, obtaining the following quote from a source:-

“Ultimately Tony [Khan] has to make a decision about what is right for the talent, staff, and [especially] the fans”.

NYC and Chicago are said to be of the most concern to AEW, with the Dynamite: Grand Slam and All Out pay-per-view heading to these cities on 23 September and 5 September respectively. While the company is continuing with current plans for now, it is monitoring what is going on and preparing to take action.

Yesterday saw the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reinstate mask guidelines in the United States, advising that even fully vaccinated people should wear them while indoors due to the new surge.
