Malakai Black has reportedly requested - and been denied - his release from All Elite Wrestling.

This is according to Wrestling Inc. founder Raj Giri, who, in a since-deleted tweet, reported yesterday that the House of Black man's call to be let out of his multi-year AEW contract had been turned down. Giri then stated that after hearing of an AEW wrestler who wanted out, sources indicated it was Malakai, who had developed mental health concerns due to his personal life and character's handling in AEW.

Fightful Select report on the matter shot down swirling rumours that Malakai had been released from AEW outright. There was no truth to talk that Black, who is on this Sunday's All Out pay-per-view card, had been let go.

Rumours on Black's unhappiness in AEW remain, though the reason isn't reportable without first-hand confirmation. Fightful has not been able to confirm with the promotion that Malakai has asked for his release.

While people within the company stated that Black hadn't been happy, sources believed that things had been at least been partly smoothed over.

Black, who has been with AEW since July 2021, has four years remaining on his contract.
