Report: AEW Was Expected To Cut THIS Wrestler Until Talent Spoke Up

It was assumed this AEW talent would be cut until the wrestlers spoke up, reportedly.

All Elite Wrestling personnel recently held an internal assumption that Colt Cabana was on the verge of being let go - until talent spoke up on his behalf.

This is according to Fightful Select, who reported that there were rumblings of the Dark Order affiliate's AEW contract not being renewed going back as far as March. Some wrestlers assumed that this was due to the longstanding, much-publicised issues between Colt and former best friend CM Punk, through the Dark Order's diminished focus in recent months (and departures of members Alan Angels and Stu Grayson) changed this somewhat.

According to several AEW wrestlers, the word going around the company a few months ago was that Colt's deal was not being renewed. As Cabana is an immensely popular figure amongst his peers, several talents spoke up for him in this predicament.

FTR's Dax Harwood has responded to the report, calling it a "100% complete fabrication". He later clarified this, however:-

Although Fightful notes that Cabana is almost never at AEW's television tapings these days, it is believed he has been re-signed to compete on Ring Of Honor, which AEW chief Tony Khan acquired in March. Dave Meltzer reported in May that Colt had indeed been assigned to ROH, hence why he hadn't appeared for AEW since March.
