NJPW's biggest show of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 17, takes place this Wednesday (4 January), and with one former WWE champion already rumoured to appear at the event, another appears to be in Japan as well.

Sasha Banks, who is currently in the country, is expected to show up at Wrestle Kingdom 17, potentially to enter an IWGP Women's Championship storyline. That belt will be contested by KAIRI and Tam Nakano on the night.

Joining her in Japan will be Naomi. PWInsider reports that Trinity Fatu, too, is slated to be in Japan, though New Japan sources would not confirm if she would be involved in Wrestle Kingdom. It was also intimated that Naomi was heading to the country of her own accord, which could mean she is simply heading there to support Banks ahead of her expected debut.

Nonetheless, the rumour mill will swirl like a washing machine until the credits roll on Wrestle Kingdom 17.

Neither Banks nor Naomi has appeared in wrestling since walking out of a WWE Raw taping in May. The duo were stripped of their Women's Tag Team Championships and suspended indefinitely in the aftermath of this.

Banks is now a free agent as of 1 January. Naomi's contractual status, however, is unclear.
