Report: CM Punk & Ace Steel To Be Suspended Or Terminated From AEW
Latest on expected punishment for CM Punk following post-AEW All Out 2022 brawl.
Hours removed from Dave Meltzer's report that AEW had served multiple unnamed parties with suspensions for their respective roles in the post-All Out 2022 backstage brawl, Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso has revealed more on the expected punishments.
Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks are amongst those suspended. The new AEW Trios World Champions were at the heart of the brawl with Ace Steel and CM Punk, though reports on who started the fight differ from witness to witness. Michael Nakazawa, Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, and Brandon Cutler have also been suspended.
Regarding Steel and Punk, Barrasso reports that they will either be suspended or terminated outright by AEW. If AEW opts to fire the duo, they will be out of the company by the end of today.
AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan met Punk to discuss the matter on Tuesday. Pre-brawl, Punk shot hard on Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson, Colt Cabana, and 'Hangman' Adam Page during an incendiary press scrum appearance, sparking the fight.
An external third-party investigation into what happened after All Out 2022 is also to take place - and AEW sources have indicated that the situation will not be turned into a storyline.
Khan sat alongside Punk at the press scrum, where the reigning AEW World Champion intimated, amongst other things, that people within the promotion had leaked a false story on him demanding Cabana be moved to the Ring Of Honor roster.
