Report: Cody Now Owns The Trademark For "Dusty Rhodes"

Another day, another trademarking story for Cody and AEW.

Cody and All Elite Wrestling have gone trademarking daft this week, and it looks like 'The American Nightmare' and his family have now secured the rights to their legendary patriarch's name.

As reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin yesterday, documents filed with the United States Patent and Trade Office show that Cody filed for the "Dusty Rhodes" trademark in March, which was followed up with a request for more information two months later, then finally going through a short while ago.

This report comes on the same week as AEW's big Bash on the Beach return, Cody's "The Match Beyond" trademark filing, and "Blood and Guts," which could well be All Elite's next pay-per-view name.

Amongst other things, Cody also owns the rights to other ex-WCW properties like BattleBowl and the Bunkhouse Stampede. "Dusty Rhodes" is the latest in his collection, but a lot more personal for obvious reasons.

This almost certainly means the end of NXT's "Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic," which was last won by Aleister Black and Ricochet earlier this year. It'll also be interesting to see if Cody and AEW use Dusty's name for similar marketing purposes.
