Report: Cody Rhodes' WWE Status Has Changed, Now "Very Uncertain"

Cody Rhodes' post-AEW career is proving no less chaotic than his AEW career so far.

The CodyVerse remains the most chaotic place in professional wrestling.

In the latest update on Cody Rhodes' winding and protracted WWE return, the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer states that the former AEW EVP's status has changed, to the point that everything is now "very uncertain."

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that Rhodes had previously been "on the books in WWE", with the company's creative team putting a plan together for him. As of Friday, ideas had been laid out for Cody. This is no longer the case, with WWE now unsure of what's going on.

"They don't know what's going on with Cody Rhodes," said Meltzer in a line that could have applied to almost anything the 36-year-old has been involved with over the past few months.

Meltzer did state, however, that the deal isn't necessarily dead. It's just that where once WWE thought they "had him", they are now unsure.

Rhodes is currently the most sought-after free agent in wrestling following his AEW contract's expiration in December 2021. He didn't officially hit the market until February, however, having continued working for AEW in an uncontracted capacity.
